in washington hasn't changed much since before christmas, and now we have days to go before the deadline and the nation going over this fiscal cliff. the president is hoping that this afternoon's meeting at the white house with congressional democrat and republican leaders will help break the standoff. both sides continue to play the blame game here. senate majority leader reid attacked house leader boehner for blocking a vote while the gop led house isn't due back until sunday, a day before the deadline to avert the tax increases and spending cuts that could send the nation into recession again. the differences between the two sides, democrats want to raise money on everyone earning more than $250,000 a year. the president offered to up that to $400,000. republicans ejected new taxes, even though the speaker proposed on those earning a million dollars. instead, the gop wants deeper cuts. with the clock ticking, neither side is giving up ground. >> american people i don't think understand the house of representatives is operating without the house of representatives. it's being operated

for the weekend setting us up for a cold christmas early next week. 51 in washington. temperatures starting to jump . 56 already in fredericksburg. 54 in leonard town and holding on to the fog north and west. if you've got any further fog here i promise you lose it shortly. 48 in hagerstown. all of us in the mid 50s. a few of us into the upper 50s later this afternoon. nice andquiet right now, sprinkle or light shower. i don't think we're going to see much of anything measurable. it's close enough it's possible you could encounter a light sprinkle or shower. you can see partly sunny skies. we'll get a period of cloudiness. and cooler temperatures will arrive later this afternoon. but, we should break back out into sunshine by mid to late afternoon. here's your forecast for today, partly sunny. shower possible. breezy conditions guaranteed for all of us. we'll be gusting to 30. be ready for a gustery afternoon which the temperatures will start to do one of those later this afternoon and tonight. and chilly tonight, 37. winds will lighten up out of the west. clear skies, much cooler and tempe
